The land area of the city is 1699.34 square kilometers, of which the Xiamen island covers an area of 1155.89 square kilometers and is the fourth largest island in Fujian province. Xiamen has a subtropical maritime monsoon climate, characterized by balmy summer, mild winter and ample rainfalls. The annual average temperature is about 21℃.
